We have ants in our house
Yesterday I
discovered that we have ants in our living room!
The ants have
somehow found a way into our house under the skirting board.
How they have found their way from the
outside I do not know, but I assume that they come from outside. The
thought of having an ant nest some where in the house is not a good one.
I
encountered this problem when I was a teenager and still lived at home with my
parents.
The
situation was mostly the same that time, the ants came into the house thru the
wall in their hunt for something to eat (I suppose).
The solution
I had as a teenager was to spray deodorant around the place from where they
came in and that didn't work very well. The ants that were there when I sprayed
the floor retreated but that did not stop new ants from coming in all the time.
Now that I
am not a teenager anymore, but an adult, I am going to have to solve the
problem in a more intelligent way that actually give a real result.
Since I do
not know where their nest is, I cannot solve the problem by destroying the
nest. I really wonder how did they managed to get into the house and into the
living room through the skirting board.
No matter
how they did it I still have to solve the problem.
If i were to
use ant spray on the ants that are already in the house that would only solve
the problem for a really short period of time, it will not solve the problem in
the long run and the ants will just keep on coming.
I have found
a solution that
I think can solve my problem with ants in the house.
It is a
product called Kvit A Myresirup.
You can use Kvit
A Myresirup both outside and indoors. I don´t have a problem with ants when
they are outdoors but I really do not want them inside my house.
How to use Kvit A Myresirup
Since it is
some kind of poison, you must be careful using it even if we humans are much
larger than ants it´s problably wise not to be exposed to the posion.
According to
instructions one should always: ”Use biocides with caution. Always read the
label and product information before use” which sounds like good recommendations.
Kvit A
Myresirup is in liquid form and should be distributed one drop at the time and
every drop should be about 1 cm in diameter. The drops should be placed along
the path the ants take, but as they creep out from under the skirting board, I
can simply drop the posion around the area where they enter our living room.
The posion
should then attract the ants and since the posion is long-lasting, the ants
should take the posion back to the nest and then the their entire nest should
be destroyed.
According to
instructions the effect should be noticeable after seven days and the entire
nest should be destroyed within 2-6 weeks depending on the size of the nest.
